EPA and WLTP consumption is measured at the wall, so it already includes charging losses. Real-world use is usually higher in cold weather and at motorway speed.

Questions

Do the consumption figures include charging losses?

Yes. Both the EPA and WLTP tests measure the energy drawn from the grid to recharge the car, so losses in the charger and battery are included. We add no extra factor.

Where do the default prices come from?

Each price shows its source and date under the field: the official household electricity price for your country and, where an operator publishes one, its list price for public charging. Prices change and differ by contract, operator and membership, so enter your own.

Why does my charging mix matter?

The price per kWh can differ several-fold between home and fast charging. The mix sliders weight each price by how much of your energy comes from it, which gives your real average cost.
